If you've not read the prior post, it makes sense to go there and do so...
But if you are up to date, the question was had I figured out how my driver swing differed from all others. I thought that it was my take away, with the driver being too flat -- and my shoulders too flat -- which was causing a baseball swing.
Oh, it was all good if I timed it perfectly. But if I didn't then it was smothered hooks or slices and topped shots; all in all enough to make a retired man weep. I managed to time it about once a round.
If I was at the range, then it all went well.
Have I managed to fix and will this be the last blog post?
I'm happy to announce that I did fix it. I pulled maybe three tee shots, but all the others were pretty good. No hooks, no slices, and distance was pretty good. It was a bit scary to trust it, but trust it I did and whacked away.
I was also able to retain the extra yardage that the irons showed up with the other day.
So all in all the golf swing is fine. I didn't score as well today as yesterday, there were some short putts that got away, but the long game was solid and I'm pretty happy about it. I still broke 80, but there were a couple of times with back to back bogies.
I think it will not be difficult to retain that as all the swings are now the same. There is not some new thing that I have to keep in mind or write in chalk on the top of the driver. As soon as I became aware of what was wrong, it was an easy fix.
It also seems to me that I can swing faster/harder from the positions I'm getting into at the top. I've managed to get my hands further away from body during the swing and it seems there is more room and time to create more speed as use the lower body to start things into motion. (Kind of a complex sentence there!)
The next goal will be to explore the speed possibilities.
Thus the blog will continue, and I hope it will be moving a new direction. The blog will go dark for a few days as we are on the road to North Carolina. I'll be taking clubs and Jay will be coming too, so we'll get some rounds in. I'll see if I can write a bit more about the courses. They can be quite scenic in south east.

Catching up and Exciting times
I was watching Phil Michelson the other day and I was impressed how well he keeps his head still when hitting the ball.
I was doing some of this and playing around with it for chips and the full swing.
Then on Monday I found that my irons were going an extra 10 to 15 yards. It was hard to trust, but it became apparent that I could count on this new distance.
I still had it on Tuesday and today there seemed to be a bit of regression, but I'm longer than I was last week.
My driver was still an issue. However I noticed that when I am hitting the other clubs that my shoulders are very much on the swing plane, but when I grab the driver, it seemed to me that I am swinging like a baseball swing and the shoulders are perpendicular to the ground and not parallel to the swing plane.
Of course all of this is noticed on the 15th hole. And there are not a lot of holes left that require a driver, but after becoming aware of the issue, I hit the last shots quite well and my drive on 18 was a good improvement.
So maybe I'm longer and have solved the driver problem.
Well, I've written that before. I'm playing tomorrow and we shall see what happens.
I shot a smooth 39, 38 today with a lot of ho-hum pars, i.e., lots of tap ins. No birdies, but good up and downs and only missed one short putt for my only 3 putt. About 10 GIRs.

Another Monday
Always happy to get back to the golf course. Mondays are much more fun when one is retired...
But the golf is a struggle. It's so easy at the range.
I can't remember Monday and that is probably a good thing.
Today, Tuesday, I shoot even on the front and 4 over on the back. Sure, 76, sounds good, blah, blah, blah, but what a struggle it was.
The tee shots are causing me to come leaping out of the shot to do something. Not sure what, keep my balance or not break an ankle? Might be better if that happened, take some time off and come back with a more sorted mind.
There was a lot good there. I putted well and chipped well and got up and down a few times. Made two long putts and could have made more birdies had the greens been a bit faster. There were no struggles on the greens, which can be no fun too. It was frustrating in not knowing where the swing goes and how to coax it back.
There is a ray of hope as I was able to hit a few tee shots coming in. The last 4 holes I played in one over but was able to solidly hit the ball. I was trying to pin my left arm to my shoulder as I swung the driver.
This caused some strange timing issues. It feels like the club is coming through very late in the swing. But I hit them pretty well. Actually, as I think about it, I wildly sliced on the 18th, but the ball hit a tree and come out in the fairway at a reasonable distance. I was able to get it home from there. Two bogeys were due to being behind trees and having to pitch out.
So I'll try this some more tomorrow, if I remember to do it. Thursday is an off day at this point, so I'll be at the range seeking knowledge and try to take a video or two. I'll put them up somewhere if I do.
That's about all the golf news. Best part of the day was the Costco hot dog at the end of all of it.
